Global Pulse

From LinkTV: a relatively new television and web series called Global Pulse focuses on particular news stories and presents various perspectives on them from around the world. The daily episodes are short, three-to-five minutes in length. The producers of GP make the claim that “US media often leave us uninformed about issues that affect our lives and our future [whereas] Global Pulse tracks important stories you might have missed, and finds new angles on stories you thought you understood.”

For example, news sources in a piece called “China’s Poor Go Unheard” include CCTV and Asia Today from China, BBC from the United Kingdom, and TV5 from France. A story on climate change is comprised of clips from CBS and NBC (US), NHK (Japan), TV5 (France), BBC (United Kingdom), and Once Noticias (Mexico).

The series is is funded by a grant from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.
